Sevilla Yvonne Martinez hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and will join Cornish’s Art Department this fall. Mixed media illustration is a special area of focus, but Sevilla’s interests are broad and include fashion design, activism, botany, STEM, and linguistics. Asked about her approach to her creative pursuits, she says, “I simply wish to share my paradigm with others and explore my own identity through my art.” Sevilla enjoys tamales, posole, and tortillas.
“This project was, for me, the first time I had the freedom to use a wide array of resources and execute a complicated, multistep project. Leading up to this, I had never had the time or environment conducive to doing what I truly want to artistically, and although this end result is not perfect, I feel that it is a good start and an excellent example of my growth since starting at Cornish.” – Sevilla
