Vera Patrina

Originally from Moscow, Russia, Vera Patrina will continue to work with video, light, and projection when she joins the Cornish Art Department this autumn. “I believe art has to be found,” she writes. “I am seeking the path to my art through exploration and experimentation.” Vera enjoys popcorn.

Transience of Time, projections on acrylic clear sheets and acrylic paper

“Time is what everyone experiences. Time is moving fast: a moment is replaced by the next one; the future is turning into the past. Events exist simultaneously in the future, past, and present. This installation allows you to feel time as volume, to feel how it slips and transforms, how each event and every moment is connected with another.” Vera

Waves of Seattle, welded wire fencing, paper, and vinyl lace

“This installation tells us about a link sometimes invisible to the eye. Something under the manhole lid is intangible and unconscious. However, the millions of pipes and cables running beneath cities connect people. While turning the faucet or switching the light on, we unconsciously join the chain that connects us all.” Vera
